Your in Illinois right Wildfire? Did u get the tyres...theres an excellent shop called "Morries Place"in Ringwood Ill.The owners name is Ed Zender  awesome guy and ace mechanic...the shop is mostly British bikes but he caters to all makes and its just a neat shop to visit especially if you like old Brits. Peter Egan from Cycle World is a frequent customer, so you know its cool! Tell Ed Charley (from The T.S. Webb Group) says Hi if you go there. B.T.W, how'd your deer hunt go?    Cheers!                                                                                                                                                                                                                Charley.

Hi Charley .Yes I got the tires online . I just might try Morries. If nothing else I can drool at some classic bikes. Deer hunting went Ok. I got one OK sized buck and donated the meat to charity. My friend is one luck b****rd. He always gets a big one.

Do you have a data sheet on installation costs of tires  depending on location in the world? :scratch_one-s_head:
if so please do share it so noone will ever ask the same question

If you are near SoCal then you can ship the tires to my house, show up, and get them mounted and balanced for the cost of a few beers and good conversation. That is how I roll, DIY kind of guy...

THIS is why I asked for your location...nothing sinister!!! What is your problem buddy?? Is it your intention to rub most people on this forum, who offer you help/advice, the wrong way!!

I would have done them for you, just like these guys, if you where with in my area...but not now given your attitude.

John first  let me clarify a few things as I feel things things are getting lost in translation
I am the type of person that is never rude or insulting to anyone unless someone else instigates it.

So how did it all happen?

I ask "what would you consider a fair price to have the new tire put on at a bike shop assuming I bring the wheel and new tire in.

You respond  with "Easier to reply if we knew where you were located scratch_one-s_head"
So that was an offer to help me install the new tire as you are now suggesting? I didnt get that so lost in translation

I assumed because as this is a US based website and I gave the price of the tires in $  that it would transfer that I am in the US unless stated otherwise and all I was trying to get  was a general cost of tire installation  and not an exact figure.

Well my understanding of putting a  rolling eyes  symbol in a comment as you did  is not a symbol of trying to be helpful but  used by some to basically say stupid question/comment. Others responded and offered advice and help without requiring location which again shows the good moral character  of people on here.

Also who is "'the most people on here" that I am trying to rub the wrong way that you refer to?. If you read my posts I have stated numerous occasions how grateful I am to those that have offered help and advice and only on one occasion (if I remember correctly) have I been snarky with someone again in response to their comment.

I am too old to be worrying if I unintentionally annoy someone by the lack of or indeed  content in a posting. We are all grownups here so lets forget about it OK?

Wow - the estrogen level has been kind of high around here lately...I think everyone needs to review the random knockers thread and put a smile back on their face!

Some shops have a "sliding scale" for jobs, depending on certain economic factors (yours).

Example:

Customer: Greetings, kind shopkeeper. How much to mount tires on these wheels I'm bringing in?

Kind(?) Shopkeeper: That depends. How much have you got?

I assumed because as this is a US based website and I gave the price of the tires in $  that it would transfer that I am in the US unless stated otherwise and all I was trying to get  was a general cost of tire installation  and not an exact figure. One should NEVER assume!!! Here in CANADA we use dollars and the dollar ($) symbol. Knowing were you are located, would help the FJ community to get you a figure from a 'local' member to you, or, maybe help installing them for you.

Well my understanding of putting a  rolling eyes  symbol in a comment as you did ??  is not a symbol of trying to be helpful but  used by some to basically say stupid question no such thing as a stupid question /comment. So, are you suggesting that by asking where one is located, it shows a lack of moral character??!!

Also who is "'the most people on here" that I am trying to rub the wrong way that you refer to?. Really, look back on some of your posts, advice given and your responses  If you read my posts I have stated numerous occasions how grateful I am to those that have offered help and advice and only on one occasion (if I remember correctly) have I been snarky with someone again in response to their comment.

To end this, I will agree to let it slide, however, I won't respond to your posts in the future, so as we don't make the same mistakes twice...Have a great day.
