Ignition and Coil Connectors

My FJ has a fairly sheltered life.  It is garaged and covered when not being ridden and gets wiped down after every ride.  As such it doesn't see the water hose very often and rarely gets ridden in the rain.

I had the tank off this weekend to replace the cam cover grommets and decided to check the ignition and coil connectors which live under the tank.  I was surprised (actually disappointed) to see a lot of the green corrosion on the blades of all three connectors.  I scraped it off an applied a liberal amount of dielectric grease.

I'd suggest everyone give these a look-see when you get under the tank.

As usual, this is good great advice.

I really haven't done anything maintenance-wise to the `90 I took delivery of earlier this year.

Whilst in the midst of changing tires at the ECFR, one of the "supervisors" mentioned that my fuel sender wiring was routed incorrectly; taught and running across the top of the battery.

I've been meaning to remove some of the plastic bits and the tank, just to inspect my new joy. It'll be a good time to check valve lash, replace the valve cover grommets, and mount my toll transponder unit to the framework above the headlight.

She's due for an oil change, too.

I was impressed with a horn mod I witnessed on one members' bike: Hella Super-(something?). Loud and piercing dual-tone horns. Would be useful!

Seems I've just scheduled the consumption of an afternoon for myself. Could be worse, I suppose.

Like these Steve ?

Hellas are around 50.00 a pair and there are some good knock offs on eBay for less than 30.00 a pair.  Kurt (yamaha fj rider)has them on his bike. I converted mine for the increased noise and the fact that now I can reach up and change out a headlight bulb without having to remove the stock horn.  More efficient.
The horn cover can be painted if you don't like the color. Here is Kurts bike.

Yup, those be they.

Noisy lil' phuckers, when you need `em.
