Hi guys.

My speedometer cable died on me yesterday, so now I am forced to use a speedometer app on my phone...
Not that I need it, cause I can drive it on the tachometer, but as I described in another thread it to is a bit jumpy above 5000rpm, so its nice to have something to verify my speed other then the readings from the police  :rofl2:

I know the speedo cable is plenty available all over, but I would like to get one custom made with blue rubber/coating to match my brakelines, when I first gone replace it...

Have search online and there are several custom cable manufactures, been in contact with several that make the speedo cables but not in blue..

Anyone know a good place to get this made?

Cheers

Ken, you could try a can of vinyl spray paint. The stuff is made for changing upholstery colour, it's flexible, high in pigment and hard wearing.

Only cost a few dollars to give it a try.

Ken,

You can get plastic heat shrink tubing (sleeving) in several shades of blue.  Electronics parts houses will have it.  You can add a second sleeve over it, in clear heat shrink tubing, to keep it clean longer.  Heat shrink tubing gets 25% to 50% smaller, when heated; ask about the percentage of shrinking, when buying it.

P.S. Life is too short, and health is too valuable, to ride on cheap parade-duty tires.

Thanks for the tip Noel, I might just consider this option if im not able to get the cable custom made  :good2:

Red, yes I have thought about using heat shrink tubing, but as an alternative to having the cable custom made. But the idea of putting a clear heat shrink tubing as a second layer is perfect! I surly will consider that to..

Pat, yes! I diden't call but i sent them an email. Since I'm on thet other side of the pond, call within openign hours is sometimes difficult.  :pardon:
But I think Motion Pro might be able to to this  :good2: Been looking all over Europe and it's either too expencive or they dont make for my bike. There are however some suppliers in the UK, but the shipping cost from UK to outside EU is just to expencive...

But I'll put my money on Motion Pro ar the seems to be the best bet at the moment..

Thanks for the help guys.

Cheers
