Yesterday I bit the bullet and did a complete carb tear down/clean/screw and o ring replacement, via RPMs kit. Unlike most people I see posted, my pilot screw caps were in place and untouched. When I drilled and removed the caps I found that the outer carbs were both set at 2 1/2 but the inner two were completly turned in, ALL the way in. Has anyone encoutered this before? After I reassembled everything I went ahead and set all the screws at 2 1/2 out but not sure if this would be the starting point. It won't be till sometime later this week that I can get the sync tool and fuel iv from a neighbor so if anyone can give me an idea on this it would be great. BTW, thanks RPM for the good stuff for the bike and a cool T shirt. Really nice to get rid of those nasty philips and have a solid clean set up!!   :good2:

Do you see any slight damage to the screwdriver slot in the top of adjustment screw?

If so, then when the drill bit broke through the cap, it contacted the mixture screw and rotated it shut.

No way it was running decent with 2 cylinders idle mixture cut completely off.  Start at 2.5 turns out and adjust from there.

OK, I guess that could be a possibility. I know I did break through on at least one.  The day was kind of a blur with too much yard work and honey do's prior to starting the project. I no longer have my santuary of a garage as I did in Utah and work outside in a carport with my "stool and work bench" being a 5 gal. paint bucket and a old sheet on the ground.  Ended up being a longish day with my back still reminding me!  Can't wait to get far enough on the interior of the house out here to start enclosing my "port". Ahh the fun of moving.  Alright so I will start with 2 1/2 out, thanks.
