Well, it finally happened - after years of trepidation at the thought of riding on a motorcycle, my mother in-law at a spry 69 years of age agreed to go for a ride on the FJ today. She needed to go to Strathroy (my hometown) which is about 45 min from London when one takes the scenic route (no expressway). I offered to take her on the FJ yesterday and to my surprise she agreed! I had offered to take her for a ride numerous times for 20+ years and she has always been to scared of motorcycles to take me up on the offer... until now. Hit a little bit of rain on the way there but other than that it was a great ride - not too fast, not too slow and I made sure to find some scenic roads. Well, she just loved it and said that she had a grin on her face the entire time. The SCALA Q3's came in handy as we were able to chat during the ride. She said she'll be smiling untill 11:00 tonight.

Awesome stuff right there!
It's amazing how many people deem motorcycles as being too dangerous..........................and will never get to experience the ride!
Good on her for finally throwing caution to the wind.............and good on you for never giving up the offer!

Life isn't about having the best, but about making the best of what you have...

My wife's cousin was like that, but finally accepted a ride.
Since I knew she was scared and I didn't want to add to that fear, I rode carefully and sedately around a couple of blocks.  I would have gone further, but I was having trouble breathing :-(
Seriously, she was holding on so tight that I couldn't breathe.

Zwarte, What happened at 11 for her smile to go?

Cheers,

I believe that's when she turns in for the night - after watching a couple Seinfeld episodes. She's a pretty cool mother in-law - a little bit crazy but a lot of fun. My father in-law passed away (heart attack) back in Jan 2013 and for the most part she's done pretty well. This weekend we helped her get her 5th wheel trailer ready to move out of the campground where they had  seasonal site. They had been there for 17 years and had either had a trailer or cottage for the better part of the past 30+ years. It was pretty emotional for her as this was just another reminder of what is no more. I think taking her for a ride on the FJ was a nice getaway from that.

Maybe you could teach her that the joy of riding is even greater than being a pillon.
