Just got back from a visit in northern CA. Spent time on the Russian River in Sonoma County. NEXT time, I'm renting a bike. At least for one day. Pics do no justice to what I saw.

Just about 10 minutes from the cabin was a State Nature Reserve where someone important from Ohio, who had long ago, set aside a swath of Redwoods for all to enjoy in our day and age, and beyond...

One curve in the road in Armstrong Redwoods SNR. To have had a bike for them, and many others in the vicinity. Damn.

Trail in Armstrong Redwoods SNR

Huge Redwood there called Colonel Armstrong.

Redwoods were huge. Here was one right down the street from our cabin...

Experienced more great roads albeit in a cage on the way to the coast. SR 116 to CA Highway 1

Rocks in the water at Goat Rock Beach off of Highway 1

Paragliding (not me) at Goat Rock Beach

Took some good secondary roads (in a car, dammit) through many of the vineyards to a man-made lake. Lake Sonoma. Nice place. Spent a half day on a pontoon boat.

I have made a promise myself to rent a bike on the next visit!

You got home before the area was hit with an 6.1 earthquake this morning.

Yes, I know. In a weird way, part of me feels like I missed out on a an experience that I never had before. I feel for the people who have been injured or incurred property damage. I wouldn't want to experience either of those things though.

I got a feeling Colonel Armstrong shrugged of yet another earthquake and is still standing tall.

We were in San Fran and Sonoma last September.  Wish I had a bike for the trip. Hope they didn't get hit too bad.
