Diy bluetooth helmet

So i decided to buy a $30 set of bluetooth headphones and pull them apart and put them in my helmet. Used 7 metres of real small wiring, some solder and heat-sink, other then that just some silicon to stick the control module on. Cheap mod if you got some time, had to extend speakers, main loom and microphone. Not sure how they will handle rain but the circuit board is buried in silicon so we will see how it goes.

Let me know if you can get enough volume out of your setup, when going 80mph.

Nup, dont wear plugs but will give it a go to find out. The music volume is quite loud but phone calls not so much. Some tweeks are in order to get phone the same.

80mph! Thats around 130km/h. Cant travel long distance here doing that speed, will get done real quick.

Pat - I can confirm the Sena Q10 works for music and phone conversations with earplugs at 80 mph...  FWIW.

I just received a set of these.  They are suppose to be "Noise Isolating" and I guess anything you stick in your ear would be that  .  I will try them out this Saturday.  I like the way they mount on the ear.  If they work I might think about adapting the Bluetooth.  Looks interesting.

George, I bought a set of these exact same units a couple of weeks back on what I thought was your recommendation. Must have been Fred.

I have previously used custom made plugs but since upgrading from my old Q2 to the new Sena S20 I have trouble hearing through them.

The sound quality is fantastic but they are a bit cumbersome to use, I guess I will get used to the wires. They also foul on my helmet speakers. If I remove the speakers I am left with an open hole in the unit where they plug in which is no good in rain. If you are using them with a phone or iPod they should be great. The noise isolating qualities are not quite as good as the fitted plugs but good enough.
If music is your thing, I think you will like the quaility of the sound, it's very good.

That was Fred on the original write up.  I only want something for the MP3/4 player on the freeway.  Don't think I could handle the phone on a bike, I would only listen to the MP player on long freeway stretches.  Nevada has a few... !  I will give them a run on Sat. if we get on the freeway.  Noise hasn't bothered me that much, my helmet fits snug and to be honest I have already lost some of my hearing, especially in the high pitch region.  Jet engines and turbine noise, work related.  Generally the same frequency as my brides voice

I meant Sena SMH10 btw...  Diane and I have them and they are nice kit.  Allow nice intercom, music, phone, etc.  I have done calls from the freeway and had the others tell me they had no idea I was mobile, much less on a bike.
