Electrical problem with 85 FJ - Hot rectifier after replacement

Another thing to keep in mind is that often these wires are bundled in a harness.  If ever you have a situation with anything electrical, before simply replacing the suspected component, especially a high ticket item, always physically trace all wires in the circuit by unwrapping the harness, so as to visibly inspect for melted dielectric (wire insulator) because when too much current passes through a conductor that's bundled, one can't be sure that it didn't melt the insulator of another wire creating a short, or possibly to ground.  You should always trace, then replace, any wire that looks over heated, paying attention to wire gauge and color if possible.  Gauge is a must, but If proper color is not possible, simply label the wire, for future quick reference, you can even buy labeling kits.  Then simply re-bundle with black electricians tape. This extra step can save you money on high ticket components, and cease your need for aspirin, or maybe a beer, never mind, beer a good thing, uug!.   :drinks:
