hello there guys , need some help . I'm working on a 89 3cv/3cw . I'm wondering if anyone has used a 1tx tank 86 on theirs if so any issues?

aviationfred

I don't know of anyone that has, I do know that the petcocks are different and they do not easily interchange.

The 86' petcock has a diaphragm and uses vacuum to operate. The 89' petcock is a free flow type and has the fuel pump to feed the carbs.

It can be done if you switch to the oem '84/85 petcock and put that petcock in the 'Prime' position.
A less expensive alternative is a adaptor plate and a aftermarket petcock, left in the open position.
I recall Randy @ RPM sells that adaptor and petcock.

Hope this helps. Pat
