QuoteI am seriously considering trailering my FJ out there for spring break. We like SoCal in March, and instead of drinking by the pool, I'd like to ride the PCH a little.

Yeah, the PCH from San Simion to Monterey is just incredible.  One of the best roads in the world.

QuoteMy 89 sat for 6 years and I have idle problems too. I'm wondering if you have pilot jet obstructions. Slowoldguy has been guiding me thru a total carb rebuild, 2 down, 2 to go.

I think my problems lie in the airscrews.  They were unplugged and tampered with by someone that was clueless about what they are.  I'm sure he/she heard you uncover them and turn them out a half turn.  Well one of them was just sitting on top of the threads.  I unscrewed all of them and then set them down a half turn at a time till the idle came back to tolorance.  I am sure that a tank of Seafoam and a carb sync will make her happy as a clam.

QuoteI bought Avon AM26 radials in stock sizes. What tires do you run?

My tire of choice is the Dunlop D205s.  They stick like glue and the ride is nice.  When I bought my 2nd FJ, it had Michilins on it.  The wife knew right away that the bike did not ride like the 1st one.  After the Dunlops went on, she was much happier.  Me too for that matter.

Cheers,

Craig

PCH is great... once you get north of Santa Barbara!
