Hi every one, the Tach on my 89 is acting up. Sometimes normal sometimes reading 3 or 4 thousand high. Of course the engine does not rev higher than normal and the bike runs fine. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Andrew

Check the grounds at the coils...  the through-bolt that mounts them is a ground and caused the same symptoms for me when it was dirty...

G'day,

On my '85 I had problems with a bouncy tach, among other things.., I discovered that there is a grey wire from coil no.2 that goes to the tach, my wire had a high resistance, replacing it solved the bouncy tach and helped a misfire on my cylinders.

Hope it helps,

Gareth
