FJ seats

I read in a recent thread that the oem seats changed adding a bit more cutout in the driver's portion. Can't find that thread but did this change the make the seating for the passenger any larger? What year was the change?

I have seen mention of the seat change in one of the major motorcycle publications. I can't recall which one. I do remember that the change came to the 89' model with a very very minor change of the forward seating area, but the major change was flattening and squaring of the passenger section.
