Hello,
While syncing the carbs today, I had oil spewing out of the cam cover (front right corner) the half circle part of the gasket seems to have been "blown" outwards even though I had gasket sealer on it.
What would cause this?

I did change the oil prior and I'm wondering if I might have over filled the bike?

TIA
Tony

#1 it does not need any sealer.
#2 is the retaining lip still present on the inside of the internal part of the half circle?

Randy, I'm not sure of the internal lip as I left the bike to cool.

Would excess oil cause more oil pressure?

Thanks,
Tony

Randy, after taking a closer look here is the split gasket. the metal disc is full exposed.
As for the retaining lip on the inside , I don't see one, all I note are 4 ribs ,same in appearance.
The other half circle appears the same, 4 similar ribs and no retaining one.

Im wondering if I have an inferior gasket? This was part of a full gasket kit.. but there is no retaining lip that I see.

Yep, most complete gasket sets are cheap knock-offs of the original quality, which is the reason I will never sell them.

The Yamaha gasket has a retaining lip on the interior of the gasket on both sides
