It was not a freeway but on the way back from the WCR a few years ago I had an "off the back of a truck incident". At a spot where the road dipped down and turns, there was a utility truck traveling in the opposite direction. Just as I was dropping into the dip about 6 pieces (of what looked like solid plastic, 8 to 10 foot long, 2x8 planks) slid out of the back of the truck and directly across my lane.  :shok: So I had a moment (sliced really thin) to decide if I could do anything about this. I was going to encounter the planks while they were still sliding at an angle towards me and to the other side of the road. In that thin slice of time I decided, no brakes, ass just off the seat, don't force the front if it kicks and the dirty underwear in my saddle bags will be way cleaner that what I was currently wearing after this.  :bad: The event that happened when I came in contact of the planks was terrably uneventful. Just a few bumps and I was over and past them, there was no way to see what was coming. Mike from San Dimas was following me but may not have had to navigate over the planks. What a pucker moment....

My addition to the list is..... any vehicle at an intersection with tinted windows in front. I cannot see if the person driving can see me. Or if they are looking. Or if they are alive. Or if there is even anyone in there. I want to know that they have at least looked to see if anything is coming. It should be illegal. Actually here in Ontario it is illegal. But the cops don't bother enforcing that law. It doesn't ruin your driving record or increase your insurance premium so they look the other way.

By law, the front windows here in California have to have a VLT (Visible Light Transmission) of 88%.  I currently have mine tinted to 70%, but have had cars tinted down to 50%.  I've been pulled over four times and "fix-it" ticketed once in my driving career.  The police generally don't like the limo tint either.  It puts them at greater risk during traffic stops not being able to see the actions of the driver.
