Has anyone ever opened up an exhaust collector?

Noel

This has nothing to do with the question but it's cool.

Just curious to know how restrictive, if at all, they are.

I thought I saw a cutaway of it and recall a simple reverse flow baffle design.

Not sure about how restrictive it is, but I also think the output baffle shrank slightly in diameter in the later models.

I looked inside mine when I had it off. As I remember, There was stanchions going from top to bottom, I assume there for making it crush resistant.

I need to work on my comprehension skills.  You said collector.  I described the muffler design.

I've painted my collector box a few times.  From what I recall, it's just a 4 into 1 collector with a dual outlet.

The reason I'm curious is because of the weight. If was just a 4 into 2 splitter it would be much lighter.

The glass is not half full, it was engineered with a 2X safety factor.
