Well, not a dramatic story to go with it.  On the way to work on my long "test loop" with some good long uphills and little traffic.  Perfect for comparing little changes in jetting or timing or just having fun.  I had just run it up to redline in 3rd and 4th and shifted to 5th and rolled out as I approached a car.   I slowed down for a bit to open a gap and had started to accelerate again when it didn't feel quite right.  Rolled out and was trying to listen closely because I thought I heard something.  Tucked my head sideways behind the windscreen as I continued to slow and saw something go zipping by.  I think it spit the rod cap out the front of the case and it bounced about 4 feet off the road.

To be honest I'm not too surprised.  I don't know the background of this engine - took it out of a lowered an stretched FJ with a drag style sidewinder exhaust.  This was the one I bought about 3 1/2 years ago to replace the engine that was in the trailer I had stolen back then.  Also I've been beating on this one pretty hard the past year or so I've been in Colorado, so all in all, I guess I can't really be too surprised.   :unknown:

It'll be back up soon -- there's a (used) 1314 built in Larry McBrides shop waiting in a crate under my work bench...might not be quite on par with one of Randy's 1350s, but it should be close  :drinks:

On a tangent -- should have the drag bike out again on Wednesday if weather cooperates!
