Wiring block connectors

G'day,

Over the past few months I have been tracing and eliminating some electrical issues, the old block connectors seem to be prone to failure after around 25+ years in service.  The block connector in the nose of the fairing to the dash was faulty, causing a bad idle, jumpy fuel guage, and if the grey wire has a bad connection, you will loose spark on coil to plugs 2 & 3!

Most auto shops offer block connectors, but they are the large blade type, and if you have a 13 wire connector on the bike to replace, you will need almost four of these block connectors!

I ordered a few small blade connectors off:

They arrived really quickly, are of good quality, and since replacing the old wiring block to the headlight, the bike runs better!

I just thought to put the word out, cheaper than NOS and may actually fix some niggling electrical issues plagueing.  Be sure to order more than $20 of parts, otherwise the postage kills.

cheers, Gareth

Gareth,
Good call on replacing those old connectors. I'm in the middle of adding new horns, relays for the lights, coils and horns and fitting a 12 v power socket in the right side fairing panel. I bought a few new 2 conductor Hitachi connectors and the proper crimping tool from www.electricalconnection.com Just thought I would pass along another source for connectors and tools.

I've got both their headlight and their horn harness and relay and am very satisfied with the quality and construction.
