Hello there, FJ lunatics. I seek more advice. For those of you who know about these things. I have an 85 FJ11. I have the adaptor plates for Blue Spot calipers. I have the Blue Spot calipers. I have the Fazer brake lever and caliper. I am not going to change the forks, or get rid of the anti dive system. I am not. Please tell me, anyone out there who´s done it, or anyone who knows how to do it,  what bits and pieces do I need to convert the standard system to the adaptor/blue spot system.?  BTW I do have 3 yards of ss braided cable. Could I ignore this and simply fit the clever brackets/adaptors, blue spots to the brake/anti dive and all will be well?
Or, do I need new bits and pieces?.
Sorry this sounds so dumb. If I need new stuff, what should I buy?
Thank you.
Best wishes,
Tony

Seems straight forward to me. Bolt on the adapter plates, bolt on the Blue dots (check alignment to the rotor), figure out if you need to change the length of the brake lines from the OEM position to the new Blue dot position. Replace all the lines with braided, bleed and your done.
The glass is not half full, it was engineered with a 2X safety factor.

OK, I shall try. You make sense. For me it´s the ´´shock of the new´´ that causes problems. I really appreciate the advice and shall take it. Did you know that, statistically. 90% of people do not take advice? I will take this advice and belong to the 5% club. Tony.

Take your time to see how the calipers need to lineup/bolt up. I am not sure how much room you will have to test fit as the rotors tend to get in the way. You might need to compress the caliper pistons in to get a larger gap between the brake pads. This will give you a little more wiggle room. If you do then remember to pump your brakes back up after assembly and before you ride it. Don't force anything, finesse will take you farther then force. Good time to check your pads for wear and uneven wear while it is off the rotor. Let us know how you did with this project. Kookaloo!!!

They will, as long as it concurs with the view they have already formed or the decision they have already made(or is confirmed by their wife's second cousin's neighbour's uncle's workmate........ who once had a tractor that made a similar noise, but not quite the same.... and turned out to be ......... according to his daughter's boyfriend's........... "so, I think I'll try that first")

This has always amused me. They ask your advice because they have no idea themselves, then ignore it.

In most cases they are looking for someone to corroborate the choice they have already made and keep asking until they find someone who agrees with them then quote them as "expert advice" regardless of their suitability to offer such advice.

The quality of advice is also often rated by their liking or disliking of the person offering it.

This has been the case since Adam was a boy and in all likelyhood will never change.

Just like everyone else who rides a motorcycle, I constantly watch/monitor the weather forecasts to determine whether I can commute to work tomorrow or look forward to a nice enjoyable ride this upcoming weekend.  I've been doing this for 40+years so I'm always aware of the weather conditions (well, as aware as anyone can be who listens to someone who is typically paid to be wrong 80% of the time).

Anyway, a few years ago the family is in Colorado skiing.  As usual, I'm watching the weather closely since it can affect the drive back home.  The forecast is not pretty.  They're calling for freezing rain, ice accumulation,  and massive snowfall that could shut down our highway route through New Mexico to home for an unknown length of time.  I start warning the wife that the weather could be bad and we should think about maybe leaving a day earlier to get ahead of it.  She totally ignores me and says everything will be fine.  I continue to drop hints for the next few days.  We really need to leave before Saturday, but she continues to hold out.

Thursday afternoon she comes running to me saying we need to get packed up and get out of town by Friday evening.  Seems that she talked to some complete stranger while standing in the lift line who happened to mention that bad weather was heading our way.

So, what I had been trying to tell her all week was ignored until she heard it from someone she'd never met or even talked to before.

Noel you hit the nail on the head. Being older and supposedly "experienced" I get asked questions on how to do things at work by the "kids". Sometimes they take the advise they asked for and sometimes they don't. My main complaint is with the ones who ask for the advice and then want to argue with your advice.  Dave

Yes, ( to Noel) it is, I think , part of the explanation of the illusion of ´´Free Will´´. It is an illusion and we all think that we have it. However, we´ve already made the decision ( at least our brain has) before we consciously make it. Tony
