This keeps niggling away at me so I'll clear the air.

A week or so back part of one of my posts, below, was quoted. No big deal, if you post it people are free to quote it.
In this instance however I didn't post it. It had been changed. The [like me] has been added by the poster.

I know it is a poorly executed reference to himself, I know that because I didn't say it, but no one else reading it knows that. I do not like the way it reads or that it is attributed to me.

10.  Do people on the site ignore advice from someone with decades of full time experience [like me] in favour of back yarder's and shadetree mechanics? Yes.

It changes the whole meaning of the sentence from a general observation to reading like a bit tacky self promotion or ego stroking.

If I mention my qualifications and or experience in part or in whole, I do so in a relevant context, not just a shameless parading of them, which is how it reads.

Randy, promote yourself and your services all you like, and we are all very grateful you do, but leave my words alone!

Obviously, I don't know for sure, but I would guess that this is another of those times where texting gets the intent and meaning confused because the inflection isn't available to hear. If that line were being spoken aloud by someone quoting, there would be no doubt that the "like me" was an aside, and not part of the quote. I do agree, though, that it can be annoying to read your own words, mostly, and have that "That's not what I meant at all!!" moment.

Yep I was on the smut page too.
Oh well, it's good advice anyway - you might break the end off it.

I am sorry i don't get this I read it that he was agreeing with you about people not listening to the ones on this site that has a lot of experience and just put in [ like me] referring to himself. That is my opinion and maybe I am reading it wrong.
