After a really enjoyable day out with my wife yesterday on the FJ we both agree the seat sucks. Numb arse to say the least. Anyone got ideas as to what if any material can be substituted for hard 27 year old foam. The seat vinyl on mine is pristine so may canablise a seat from the wreckers and modify it.

See if you can find a member near by with a Corbin Lady & Gun Fighter seat. Some have a removable back rest. I really like the Corbin seat, I have 3 of them, and only 2 FJs...
The glass is not half full, it was engineered with a 2X safety factor.

I am sending my seat in tmrw to Seth Laam in Redding, CA.  His work looks clean, and he uses the orthopedic foam.

Jeff is in Australia.
Corbins are expensive here and especially now with the A$ only worth US$0.70

Jeff,
There are a number of seat re-opholsterers in your area.
Talk to them.  You could also inquire at boat upholster places.
I've done my own seats for a while, with varying results.
Its not hard to do, but getting the right foam and profile is.

Short term improvement can be had with a sheepskin or even better with an air-hawk.
What you really need to do is to ride more and toughen up.
Not trying to insult you, its just the truth.

Toughen up you reckon Annie.haha. Dare you to say that to my wife ha ha.  Been awhile since the last coffee  time for a get together again you think.   In all seriousness though it's not the best. Will look at the upholsterers. Looking for a good Corbin though.

Yeah, to get the Corbins sent over here it is a little expensive. I'm going to see someone like this http://custommotorcycleseats.com.au/    even though I have used a sheepskin for 20 years now. New memory foam contoured correctly would work wonders.
