I am planning to install a CBR600 rear shock on my 87' and would like some input from members that have installed one of these shocks on their 84'-87' FJ's. Any sticky issues to look out for, machining, shimming etc. etc.

Thanks in advance.

This shock came in a box of spare parts when I purchased the bike.

Hey Fred it's been awhile I can't remember specifics. But I cut the fj shocks top bushing for spacers on the top and drilled the f4i shock's top bushing to fit fjs top bolt. Changed the bottom f4i barings for ones that fit the fj bottom bolt. Can't remember the size. Had to get them from a place in town that rebuilds electric motors. They're use to getting off sized barings. And I switched the spring to an eibach 900lb spring. The guys on the Honda forums said that was about all the stock valving could handle. The sag is still too much for me with 900lb spring. But it's still way better than the stock pos. Oh yeah If I remember right the Honda shock weighs 2.6lbs less than the fj shock

All I can add is that the spring is to light. Mine was 14.2 kg/mm. It worked but was soft, to much SAG.  Here some more information http://cbrforum.com/forum/how-mechanical-40/how-rear-spring-change-66943/

Mine was in a 1990 so I am no help on fitting it into an early model.

You're very welcome. I tried to look it up originally in the suspension files and it wasn't available. Maybe someone can add to the files for easy access.

I have added it to the Suspension related files if anyone else is interested.
