For those riders who have ridden without a chin fairing, and then have added one, have you noticed any performance related items? ie, cooler running, better handling at speed, better fuel economy, etc. Asking because the main idea of a chin fairing is to break up the air pocket under the bike by diverting the wind up and around the engine, but I'm not sure there is much of a real world advantage on the FJ, other than the "Eye Candy" effect..

Jerry, I have run with and without my lower fairing, about a year without. I have not noticed any difference. I don't have an oil temp gauge so temp wise it is hard to tell. The air it scoops seems to be directed more under the engine and past the collector, so I would think it would not affect oil temp much. I also don't see how it would affect handling other than adding a few pounds, my fuel economy was not affected, perhaps some wind tunnel testing is in order. I prefer to have it on for looks.   :drinks:

PM me the address and time we can meet up tonight so I can return the favor and buy you a beer or two. Anyone else in Vegas up for a beer tonight?

I don't think there is much difference with or without the chin cowling. Maybe very slight engine cooling advantage with the cowling on.

IMO whether to have it on or off is the owners discretion on what is pleasing to the eye.

I'm not the fastest FJ rider, I am 'half-fast', the fastest slow guy....
