Come on down to the shore and look around. Pretty nice.
Nobody else here today. It's 14 deg. and that's cold for clamming.
I picked this spot because this is one of the easier places to go.
This place is kinda tapped though. I came here yesterday too and
got 40 lbs. Not good! I usually fill 3 clam rollers and get 90 lbs.
Today is different. Even though I didn't do good yesterday, I figured
that I'd get as much. I probably could have but it's so friggen cold.

As I said, It's an easy place to get to. I used my hand tractor
(wheel barrel) from the road, down a 200 yard blocked off dirt road
to the shore and walked 300 yards to here with 2 coolers and a roller.
The coolers stop the clams from freezing and the roller is for washing
them off.

Here's me dress for the cold. I gut headphones on under the headgear
and I'm cranking some Nickelback. My Ipod has 4 Nickelback albums, an
Candlebox album and 2 Lady Gaga albums. Ya, I'll chase her down till
she loves me!

I'm waiting for a call to got diving but it ain't happening so this is
what I gut. It Isn't much money but I like it. I've lobstered in the winter
before and I'll tell ya, it's not pretty.

Look, an action shot. Three clams in one turnover.

You keep what you kill

I must of killed 3 lbs today. I can't sell them cause it's a bitch
to shuck them. They don't want dead ones and they don't want big ones
either. Sometimes I get into big ones, 4 inches, huge as clams go.
I mite through in three or four for weight but they probably don't
use them. No one likes to choke down a monster fried clam. I got one
that was so big I named him Mongo, the fried clam. He was 5 inch's
easy.

I gotta go somewhere else tomorrow. I guess I study the map and look at
google earth. I got to get at least 60 lbs. to make a day pay. I ended up with
20 lbs. today.

Cheers, Joe

Mmmmmmmm...................Clam Sandwich!

I actually love clams. Whenever the wife and I go to Oregon to visit her family, I make her take me to the coast for a stop at Mo's for a pound of steamers and some clam chowder  :yahoo:
