Although this has absolutely nothing to do with FJ windshields, tall or otherwise... :P

Mark,

How tall are you, and are you running the stock seat?

Randy, I'm 5-10 and have the Gunfighter & Lady seat.  Stock bars. Shoei RF-1000 F.F. helmet. I've got the "Windlip" screen.  I think I paid $125 and shipping to the US was $35.  It comes pre-drilled.  the fit was pretty good--I did have to do some minor filing to get it to fit--about a 1/2 hour job. I've had it on for this past season--3500mi--.  It seems to be pretty scratch resistant when washing bugs etc from it.  No wobble or flex in the screen that I can tell at cruising speeds up to 95mph (indicated :-) ).

Thanks, Mark!

I've seen the Eagle Screen up close, and they look very nice, but I'm guessing that at 6'3, it's not going to help much with the turbulence I get around my RF900.  I currently have the Targa +2, and I thought that a bit more height and slightly different contour of the ES might help.

I have been thinking for some time about cutting the screen (a lot) shorter, and at the ECFR, a couple of us talked about the possibility of cutting a vent close to the front edge of the screen to relieve the low pressure behind it.  I may just try it before it gets cold out.  If it doesn't work out I'll have a good excuse to get a pretty new screen.

Or maybe I'll just get a new set of custom ear buds made up, since SWMBO's dust mop dog chewed up my old ones.      :dash2:

Randy T,

Eagle Screens does make a 'touring ' screen that is taller than the 'windlip' screen that I have.  FYI.

I recall having read on one of the forums that 10 1/2 holes drilled around the base of the windshield is a good improvement.
I will have to get mine on the road and ride for a while to form a decent opinion on my windshield, its been a long time since I had my last fj

Thanks Mark!

I may try that, since EAR Inc. want $25 more to repair my custom earphones than it cost to have them made in the first place.  Great product, but absolutely shitty customer service.

I was considering drilling two 1/2" or so holes about 2-3" apart, and cutting out the material between them, forming a slot.

Not sure how that would work out at the next East Coast Rain Festival, though.

I also thought about cutting the top edge of the screen as low as possible.

Its been a while since I have looked for them, but I have seen vents that can be installed from the gold wing crowd, and if we could find a smaller rectangular one, we could put maybe one or two at the bottom of the shield so they could be opened or closed according to needs.
