Cleaning my bike

I did'nt intend to get into it today. The previous owner removed the center stand so I had to jack the bike up so I could get a nice even chain oil spray on. I had to remove the battery box to get at the front chain guard screw and thats when I saw the uglyest sight. Dingy dirty oily crud an 1/8" thick. I think this bike has never been cleaned in it's life. Pittyfull! I just happened to have a full can of engine Gunk and soaked it down. While I let it set I took off the air box cover and found mouse nest made out of fiberglass insulation and completely packed the box. The filter was'nt chewed thru though. Cleaned up that mess and put it together. The "new battery" so I was told, was over filled. Took out the caps and charged it for five hours to evaporate some of the water.
Tomorrow I need to get a new tire for the front. I want to oil everything to stop the rusting dry screws. The left hand controls need cleaning. The choke cable is binding. The hi-low beam switch needs contact cleaning, so does the blinker switch.
The best thing about buying one of these big jap screamers new is that you don't have to do anything to them. You can beat on them shamelessly and you can't brake them. All you CAN do is clean and oil the chain. In 28 years nobodys ever cleaned anything they could'nt see from the outside on this bike. Very Sad! :cray:
