Idles fluctuates?

That's the problem, gauze filters MUST be oiled, that is what makes them "filter".... Without oil, they let every little particle of crap thru! Even oiled, they let too much fine, silty crap thru....   Foam filters, such as UNIs, do a MUCH better job of catching the dust.

This summer I´ve been travelling across Europe with my friend JC´ 3CV FJ
The bike have done only subtle mods: tyre, brakes & suspension. The engine and carb set up is STD and with OE silencers. KN filter on OE airbox.
The bike was carefully revised by myself before to start my hollydays

The idle fluctuated a lot. It was near impossible to leave it around 1000 rpm: or it was so low that the bike stalled or it was above 1200 rpm. We played with mixture screws without solution. Like a bonus, the distribution chain noise was clear, so we thought about a defective distribution chain tensioner, and the brakes had a wooden feeling, although the set up is the same than on my bike 

After 10.000 hard ridden kms in 6 weeks, travelling fast alone and with passenger, including 2 closed track incursions, the bike run like a dream, with sweet idle, no noises and even more power. The brakes bit like furious piranhas and the only negative point was that the clutch slippage was frustrating when ridding hard. My bike have done the clutch mod

Thanks ...i think i will oil my currant filters...i found a can of K&N filter oil on the shelf...and next spring get the foam models...Randy has a nice set.
