Corroded terminals - my solution

I would like to share with you my solution to electrical problems on my FJ1100. The 1985 electrical harness on my bike looks reasonably in a good shape, so I was not expecting to having any electrical problems when we installed a relay mod for to the coils circuit. Shortly after the mod, for reasons I can't figure, electrical problems started on my bike. The engine would cut-out around 7000 RPM, just as if the rev limiter would kill the engine, my blinkers would work erratically, the gas meter would go off the charts -  and down to zero, etc, etc. The issues were traced to loose connections, specifically at the fuse box - and possibly in other terminals. So, I removed the fairing, disconnected ALL the terminals under the fairing, fist cleaned them with brake cleaner and air pressure, and finally sprayed a corrosion-conductive cleaner called DeoxIT D5 spray. WOW, my terminals now look like new. All the electrical problems are GONE!.

So consider this method if you are dealing with electrical contact problems .

Information about DeoxIT products is available at http://store.caig.com/ . I am not promoting this product; it worked for me; and, you may find an alternative product that do the same cleaning.

Best regards,

And see you on Sat Ride at Niagara Falls,

+1 on DeoxIT.

I've used it and recommended here as well. Great stuff.

This company http://ipatools.com/ sells this product too. If you're really anal about cleaning terminals, connections and connectors, check out what they offer for doing that as well.

After DeoxIT D5 best use DeoxIT Shield for prolonged maintenance, is my understanding.
