Maintenance / Re: Ultrasonic parts cleaner
Last post by Motofun - Today at 11:03:44 AM
Old topic..but...I'm degunking my '89 carbs and I rebeled at over $100 for the super-duper carb cleaner that RPM uses.  I have an old can of Berryman's carb cleaner that I put in my heated ultrasonic device.  I'm cooking the first carb as I write.  I'm curious to see if the ultrasonic with the Berryman's does a decent job.

I'm not sure without removing the tank on one of my FJs, but the appendix of the factory service manual page 7-43 shows cable routing.

The service manual can be found here:

Good luck!

Just a fresh gasket is all I need...make sure the surfaces are clean.
It's a very hot environment under there, make sure you have the heat shield on the carbs and the under tank insulation blanket.

Yep - the land of my birth and where I bought my GN and FJ both.

Wisconsin has some good roads. There's the Kettle Moraine scenic drive by me. The little dragon(55 north through the reservation). They even have turnoffs so slower traffic can get out of your way.  I think it's so you'll go to their cassino.  A mile or so from the bottom end..The west side of the state. Wild Cat mountain. The U.P. is up nort dehr  hey. Nothing like the smokeys but not bad for the Midwest.

I'm sure they would Bryan.

I've spent time in Illinois and Indiana and know how boring the roads there can be - and what I complain about here is a lot better than you have there. You have my deepest sympathy !

thanks Pat will do! ...just waiting on some final RPM parts to come hopefully tomorrow and some wiring and electrical parts to come monday, then I will get the gas tank set up and wire in the fuel pump and safety switch and hopefully I can legit ride it. Currently I'm limited to 30mph and 3 miles with my little spare external gas tank I have set up so I'm itching to actually go for a real ride on it...

When replacing the gasket on the sending unit under the gas tank and fuel valve I don't need to use any type of sealant correct? Just the rubber gasket against the tank? last thing I want is a fuel leak onto a hot engine after I've parked it
