2023, Not that long away, Good tip with the Stay Vouchers Troy.

Bring your locks...I've heard apparently that Cessnock is bike theft Capitol of Australia.

Hmm, pretty slow on here with less than a month to go, wonder if there's anyone going  :scratch_one-s_head:

It seems the covid era has dampened interest in rallys. Here in the states the west coast rally has only had four people express any interest (or ability) to attend .

Unfortunately Al, the FJ Owners Forum based Rally has been hijacked by the facebook gang and therefore not much activity
is mentioned on the Forum any more. I, personally think this is a great shame.
   Regards, Pete.

Pete is right, FB has certainly overtaken the FJ discussion in Oz.

The rally this year was organised by riders who've never been a member, or participated in the FJ Owners Forum, only FB. Nice people, but a shame they don't participate. Many of the FJ myths that have been resolved here are still strong on FB, plus I think they talk oil, tyres and helmets a lot  :sarcastic:. I have noted the FJ Owners Forum mentioned quite a bit, as well as RPM on FB, so that's a plus.

I'm heading to the rally with Pete and the gang via Bathurst and East Gresford (will those roads be better or worse  :wacko2:).

Absolutely Pete, Great Shame and I think "hijacked" is putting it very mildly (not your usual tone).
Maybe next year we can get Our Rally back on track here !
At least Troy cut and pasted up that there was to be a rally ... bit better than the thieves organisers of our rally have done...

That was my best attempt at being diplomatic about the facebook invasion of our (FJ Owners Forum) Rally. There may be a discussion or two
about this very subject during the Rally. I'll do my best to discuss this subject calmly and rationally but no promises!  :bomb:
P.S agree with the Troyster comments.

He he he.

I think we can safely say there might be two rallies in the future, and why not? Two is better than one, and we can choose a place better than Cesspoolnock. Nearby is East Gresford. Roads are shit but the venue is superb!

I don't do fb so I don't have a clue about what's be happening there. How lucky I am.

 :morning2: on the road.

Meeting the mob on Goulburn around midday, Bathurst is the target for tonight.

East Gresford tomorrow and Cesspoolnock Saturday.

The roads aren't looking good. Still a lot of damage from the floods etc. that will make for a cruisy ride rather than sporty

Top day on the blacktop.

The roads are in better nick than I expected.

A super twisty mix with some great high speed and scary roadworks  :pardon:

Made it to Bathurst, and the obligatory run around Mt Panorama

I'd like to bring my 1100 but trying to sort a recurring blown light fuse. I think there could be a short in the left switch block. This has been ongoing for about 2 years now. I have a spare one to fit. ATM I'm trying to figure out how to remove the non OEM pins holding the airducts to get inside the fairing. No rush, still a day or so left.
I have the 1200 in reserve. Had to get a front tyre valve stem on it replaced yesterday. Went and saw Hilton Steele and got it sorted.

Great looking photos Troy, love those colours.

Looks like Alf got his bike back together in time  :good:

Always good to have a spare FJ in the shed Krusty, but I don't think "a day or so left" (after 2 years) is going to fix that gremlin with the head light fuse, so don't even bother, it'll give you something to do later. Sounds a bit of a pain those non standard pins on the air ducts.  :scratch_one-s_head:

I'm Still unsure of arrival on Friday  :unknown:

If it were only the headlight. The blown light fuse takes out blinkers, dash lights, tacho and horn.

Easy day Bathurst to East Gresford via Bells and Putty.

We picked up Jono and Diesel.

Another great night at the friendliest pub ever, the Beatty Hotel. Run by the same family since 1865!

Made it to Cessnock via Singleton and Broke.

Nothing much to report except Jono needed a new tyre which was purchased in Singo, then the local tyre shop told us to fuck off and change it ourselves as they were too busy (we'll cee them next Tuesday).

Thanks to Pete we were able to change the tyre on the side of the road.

An interesting little tidbit, on the Bingara rally this tyre was new but picked up a nasty little slit like puncture that was fixed with a 'mushroom' plug. In between it survived WOT multiple times.

Sorry for the stealth mode fellas, booze and a cool ride home got in the way of posting  :sarcastic:.

Rally day started at Cessnock and did a windy (as it should) back roads trip to Jerrys Cafe. Jerrys is a very popular bike stop, and not only for tractors. There were some excellent bikes, actually being ridden!

The next stop was Wollombi Pub along the best road in the area. Wollombi pub was flooded just last year and has already reopened. As they have Coopers beer on tap it might just be the best pub in the Hunter Valley  .

Rally night was great and the food was good. I did not do any pics as per the above  :pardon:.

Phil and Pam won the Ashes trophy, and well deserved too.

John Witt (Bozo) won the longest trip (Perth to Cessnock) which is literally right across the country!!!

I can't remember who won the chook, but enjoy!

There does seem to be a change of guard for the rallies, and it would seem the next rally is going to be in another busy place not real suited to a rally.
That being the case, the trip there and back will be more important, plus the social side. The days of a good rally ride day are probably over, despite the effort put in by this years organisers.

Janet, Dave and Darryl did an excellent job organising things, thanks very much!

And most importantly, here's the pics..

Jono & I did a super best roads long run home down Putty, Bells, Oberon, Goulburn, Roberts pie shop back to my place. Super roads!!!

Good commentary Troy, unfortunately Len and Sally (I think).. won the distance award because they rode whereas we drove to Tumut(car and trailer) and the bike was then ridden. The roads were very rough but as you mentioned still fun.
Pete / Alf and Co showed me typical country hospitality, when we went to Bermagui.
Rallies like this are not easy to organise so I'm thankful for these "volunteers"

HOPE to see next years rally, its only 3600kms one way
