I noticed a clicking noise in my front end today commuting. Its not very load but there enough to notice. Matter of fact over 20 ish mph it either goes away or I just cat hear it.
Suggestions?
Keep it over 20 mph, all better now... :shok:
Does it sound speed related, clicking slower as you slow down? Does breaking affect the noise other than slowing it down? Check speedo cable, make sure it is not loose. Visual inspect your front end for anything out of the norm. Replace you muffler bearings just to be safe.
I had one of the spring plates that spread the brake pads off the rotor crack in half. It was making a clicking noise up front.
Update...clicking is at all speeds and goes away when applying brakes?
I am guessing that the clicking frequency increases as speed increases.... And goes away with the brakes applied... Hummmm... The evidence seems to help narrow down where one should be looking. As already suggested check your spring plates, and other brake related components for possible cause. With the bike on the center stand, toss some weight on the tail to lift the front wheel up. That way you can spin it and listen for the noise and narrow down the cause till you find it. Then tell us what you found.
It must be the brake shims. We haven't had a post about them in a long while.
