Post by: turbocamino on August 05, 2013, 06:55:50 PM
Wondering if all years heads are equal ?  I plan on porting one myself...i've done some car intakes and bike head clean-up and thought i'd give it a whirl as i have the equipment ....if it turns out nice i would use it.Just wanted to be sure which core to use in case it turns out well. its for my 89.  thanks

Yes, all heads are interchangeable - and none have better or different ports. What you will find is the 1100 heads have castings for the YICS used on the XS1100, but none of the passages are drilled.

Don't know if the XJR heads are different?  Bueller? Anyone?

Unfortunately the FJ intake ports are not very good to begin with but that's not atypical for an old side draft design. That being said you can certainly make them work better. An OS intake valve and boring the seat to .9 of the OS valve diameter makes a big difference.

thanks for that ...may have to contract randy for the valve work.
