Title: Bloody wimps
Post by: ribbert on July 21, 2013, 07:14:07 AM
I'm embarrassed to call myself a Victorian.

I rode 700km's today including 200 along the the most popular bike road in the country, the Great Ocean Road.

Temperature ranged from 5-10 deg C, partly cloudy, no rain, mostly dry roads, no traffic.

I did not see one bike all day.  I did see one guy on a Vespa, further away from civilization that I'd like to get on a Vespa, that was it.

Noel,

If you'd have wanted company, you only had to call or stop by.
You had to run right by my place on your way to the GOR.
I did go for a short ride on Sunday, but would have been happy to extend it.

That would have been good Arnie. I headed out the door without a plan. I did a back road loop down through Camperdown, Terang, Timboon then joined the coast at Port Campbell and left the coast again just East of Anglesea (at the top of the bends) and cut through to Moriac. I did pass through Meredith via Morrisons on the way down.

I will ring next time and if you are available that would be great.

If I were about 7 hours closer I would've loved to join you as well. Never ridden the Great Ocean Road but would love to do it one day. I may try and do it this year, depends on the financial situation and work commitments. Would be great to ride it with someone who knows the roads and not afraid to do big distances.   Pete.

Ken, you must have been moved against you will as a child. No consenting adult, not one with enough sense to own an FJ anyway, would voluntarily move North of the border.

Noel, you poor deluded fool you...... :empathy3:
Gippsland born (koo-wee-rup), Melbourne raised, then I came to my senses.
I moved over 2 borders back in '83 at the age of 30.......so I've just now spent 1/2 my life as a Queenslander.....lol

Pete, only 7 hrs away from ticking a big one off the bucket list?

You'd be here by lunchtime and set up for the night somewhere on the coast at the beginning of the road by the afternoon, ready to launch in the morning. I can even provide you with a guide.

Noel,  I'll definitely get there this year, probably towards the end but before the mad tourist season starts. I know that there are always mad tourists around but they seem to get worse around Christmas time. A guide would be good as I haven't been down that part of the world before and it's always good to have somebody riding with you who knows all the"out of the way spots". Arnie has sent me a PM so I'm now keener than ever to have a good look around that area. I'll be in touch when the time arrives.   Regards, Pete.   :i_am_so_happy:

A few years back had a PX200e Vespa as well as the FJ both have their merits, looks like my son's first born will be Victorian, rather have the Vespa  :rofl2:
