I won't lie I am a bit of a Puma freak as I own about 10 pairs. I have some Ducati leather Puma shoes that have some pretty thick bottoms to them but I am sure they won't really cut it so I am looking for good brands and boots out there that are popular. My Dad and my brother wear like leather boots like harly type boots and I think they are ugly and just don't like them. Maybe like alpine stars or something. I just don't want to spend like hundreds of dollars on them you know.
IMO the TourMaster Solution 2 boot is about the best bang for your buck. As for brands, it is all personal preference. I would suggest looking at the following brands, all are good quality. Alpinstars, TourMaster, SIDI, Joe Rocket, Speed & Strength, Spidi, Fieldsheer, Hein Gericke, First Gear and I am sure there are others.

I love my tourmaster solution wp air boots. They have wide sizes. They have mesh panels. So they breathe. And after 5 1/2 hrs riding in solid downpour, riding back from OKC. they stayed dry.
they are too comfortable though. They feel like I'm wearing slippers. And that just can't be a good boot. Boots are supposed to hurt!
New boots on a budget, try these..http://www.cyclegear.com/CycleGear/Street/Motorcycle-Boots/Race/brand/BILT/Speed-Racer-Leather-Motorcycle-Boots/p/43795_59409_10 (http://www.cyclegear.com/CycleGear/Street/Motorcycle-Boots/Race/brand/BILT/Speed-Racer-Leather-Motorcycle-Boots/p/43795_59409_10)
have a pair of the Bilt boots and I find them to be very comfortable. Got them on sale for79dollars. Light and they breath quite well. Big R
Thanks guys those ones at cycle gear are sweet and a good buy. As soon as I can get the money together I will prob pick up a pair. I have been doing more powder coating recently whats helping me pay for some bike stuff as I do it as a side job.
I bought a pair of Matterhorn boots (as an alternative to my Air Force-issued combat boots) back in the early `90's. They've been a favourite for motorcycling ever since, so much so that I've had them resoled at least twice!
They're insulated so my feet are nice and toasty warm in the cold, and waterproof "to boot".
Besides that, they're pretty comfortable to walk around in when I'm taking a break from a ride.
...and they're still fashionable amongst the gun nuts, oil-slingers and punk rockers!
I like `em!
Steve
Don't know if these fit your taste or not, but Yamaha Sports Plaza have these on sale through their EBAY Site for about $79 shipped
