Title: Well Randy has my carbs and having some new issues
Post by: VaughanCustoms on July 11, 2013, 12:51:38 PM
I sent my carbs down to Randy and he cleaned them and tore them down and two diaphrams are no good so I need at least two curved slides. Another issue I have is that when I got this Sigma jet kit when I went to do the rejet to stop the bike from being lean they sent me new pilots, new mains, spacers for the needles, and a drill bit to drill out the slides. Shame on my not for asking if this was a good idea or not I drilled them out and come to find out this is a issue. So they delayed me about 3-4 weeks and just ended up returning them. Randy said he can repair the holes on two of the slides if he needs to. Being on a tight budjet and trying to get a engegement ring for my girl friend to propose to her while we are in Ohio to see my family this put the bill slightly out of bugdet for me. I have like $200 set aside and Randy has it at about $375 to get them fixed up. So if anyone has any spare slides with good diaphrams I can get pretty cheap or something that would be fantastic. Thanks again guys for the support and info given. If I can't find anything then I will just bite the bullet and do what I have to do but any help would be great.

G'day,

If you are after diaphragms try the site below:

http://jbmindustries.com/ (http://jbmindustries.com/)

I have these diaphragms in my XJ650 and FJ1100, been running sweet for a few years now, easy to install and cheap at $20 each.  Best value item I bought for my bikes in ages.

Not to many options when it comes to the diaphragms. Randy at RPM did some bench tests with these that is worth a read.

We talked about those, but after my recent findings with Garth's carbs and the JBM replacements, I am not sure if they are the best way to go.

Replacement BS36 carb diaphragms (http://www.fjowners.com/index.php?topic=5340.msg88442#msg88442)

I am glad they are working well for you and that might have to an avenue we might have to take.

If the slides from my 86' will work then we can work out a deal. The diaphragms have small holes that can be sealed up up with liquid electrical. They were working fine with the holes so not very big...

G'day,

I think there might be some confusion here.  Who is Garth?  I'm Gareth. :greeting:  I installed the JBM diaphragms in the XJ650 years ago, in the FJ maybe a year at most ago.  Both with no complaints.

I did notice that the rubber used by JBM is slightly heavier than genuine, however for my riding they are great, the bike idles at last!  Although if you are into racing they might not be suitable.

Who's Gareth?     :scratch_one-s_head:

Cheers, Gareth

G'day,

Thanks for the heads up.  My name usually gets spelt so many different ways.  I might read up on Pdxfj's posts to see how his carbs worked out.

Cheers, Gareth
