I did but it was a royal pain in the ass and the visual affect wasn't worth it.  The two 1157 bulbs inside need a divider fabricated to keep from shining to the other side.  I've since switched to a "poor-man's LED". http://www.fjowners.com/index.php?topic=8545.msg79698#msg79698 (http://www.fjowners.com/index.php?topic=8545.msg79698#msg79698)

but still  no turn signal intrigration...

Aren't there 2 bulbs..... I just want half the light to blink left  andvise versa.....  Without a divider  wouldn't a single bulb still look  like a left or right blinker

yes, there are two bulbs, but each one does a pretty good job of illuminating the whole thing.  Disconnect one bulb and you will see what I mean.  Also just because I was unsuccessful doesn't mean you won't be :).

I tried to do that with one of those trailer converter boxes. Dads FJ is right, without a divider between the two sides, the whole tail light glows. I had people behind me tell me that it was hard to see which bulb was blinking. I eventually bought Randy's intergrated tail light.

Remember the days before we had turn signals on motorcycles?

They are nice for night merging onto freeways, lane changes, etc, but no way in hell do I trust that other drivers see them.
....I could put a set of aircraft wing tip strobes on the bike (as turn signals) and people will still claim not to see them...

If you are going that route, you will need some type of converter box like the ones used to wire trailer lights on a vehicle that, for instance, has yellow turn signal lights and the usual red brake lights. There are cheap ones that any auto parts store should carry.

Better check local laws, some places require a specified distance between L & R blinkers....  A very smart gentleman once said, "Never invite the Man into your life...."

OK just so I know....... How would I wire the indicators into the brake light  so they blinked and got brighter  with braking... Just like a taillight on a car

I fitted a brake light modulator with an adjustable flash rate and duration and a couple of LED globes. I reckon that is much more attention grabbing than having the indicators flashing at their normal rate.
You could probably hook the modulator up to the blinkers if that was your preference.

I have a cheaper version of this.
