I have an almost stock 84 fj1100 with f1 pipes. I am heading down to BUB speed trials in Bonneville. I need a way to shut down my fuel with out taking the tank off. I have filed off the nubs on the switch so it does have the option of shutting off. Now I just need a way to reach it. Maybe a spacer to drop it down? Thanks for the help

Your oem vacuum petcock automatically closes when the engine is shut off.
Is the manual shut off a rule for racing?
If so, Randy @ RPM has some manual petcocks you could use but to access the shut off lever, you will need to modify your left side cover to get access to the shut off lever.
I recall some of our forum members used a longer stem on the manual petcock that poked out of the left side cover allowing easier access.
Perhaps they can chime in here....
You can also get an inline solenoid operated valve. With that you can hook it up to an ignition controlled +12V power so its automatic, or to a direct connection with a switch so you can control it manually.

Thanks guys. The technical term for nubs. This would be on the fuel shut off lever and the cover plate. It prevents you from turning the lever further then on or prime. If you file the nubs down you can push the lever to an off position. The ama rules require you to be able to turn the gas off. My petcock works intermittently which pisses me off to no end. I rode for 500 mile a few days ago, no problems. Ride to dinner, there is 2 gallons of gas on the ground and my engine wet sumped when I tried to start it to go home.
