I would start with wanting to know how much compression I had. What do your plugs look like ? Have you checked ?
More information, ? Have you preformed any maintenance on your bike lately ? Other than the flames is it miss firing ? Smell fuel ? Exhaust smoking ?
Hard to digitally trouble shoot with out more information.

Doesn't smell like gas last I did was replace the petcock and jet the carbs I haven't checked plugs yet ( haven't ran it much since I did the jets) I don't know what the compression is as I don't have a tester

Rejet the carbs? Did you need to rejet? What jets did you change from/to and why?

Event time line.. Did your problem start right after you worked on the carbs ?

Uni pods and 4-1 d&d exhaust so I went up 10 percent to 125s for mains
It got worse it did it a redline when I would shift now it does it quite often probably from the bigger jets

If it started after you did the mods then my best
guess, you messed something up in the carbs more than just the jetting.
Did you do a plug reading ? Still recommend you do a compression check.

I switched to SupperTrapp slip-ons and UNI pods. I rejetted to #40 pilots and 112.5 mains, needles shimmed up, clip moved down one groove. I might be a tad lean but not far from a good setting. 125 might a tad much, not sure about 4/1 systems. What jets are you using? Differnet brands have differnet standard sizes.

125's are probably about two sizes too big in my opinion. I've got similar mods to you and 117.5's seem about right. Also check that your header gaskets are sealing properly.
The stock I believe are 125s and I was told ten percent but I will do test and go through my carbs again tomorrow thanks for the help

I will need to check what I have then next time I pull the carbs... If they are 112.5 then it may be why I think I am a little rich. I will check the plugs first though...

Mine are 112.5. The 1990 stock jets were leaned down to 110. I just kicked it up a little because the new laced gas that we are running seems to be technically lean and most FJ's like a bit more fuel. My needle position is down on the 4th grove from the top. Runs fine at 2950 feet elevation.

That is why carbs + killswitches are useful. I can't be the only person that likes creating that much noise and flame on command.... :)
