Title: sore knees
Post by: big r on June 16, 2013, 04:16:39 PM
Went for a ride today, and found that about 1 hr. into it I was in so much pain that I had to stop. My knees are getting worse and don't like to pinched up like that. It pains me to say this but I might have to sell the old girl.  :dash2: :dash2: I really don't want to but if I can't get more than an hour in the saddle I am going to have to find something with a more relaxed position. :scratch_one-s_head: She's got just over 100 thou km on her, fairly new tires, new braided lines, new slave, rebuilt chin fairing(looks like new) a yet to be installed spin on adapter kit and Randy's stainless carb screw kit. Also have a bunch of bits and pieces as well. Almost forgot also has a new chain and sprockets. Was thinking of asking about 2500, what do you guys think. Big R

So lower the pegs, and/or raise the seat.

Get ya knees fixed. (seriously). I did only 500klms yesterday, but I could ride all day on the Fj, just soaking up shear pleasure. Had a knee problem - went to a knee specialist. Had a back problem - went to an osteopath. Interestingly most of the knee aches turned out to be a back prob. Learnt knew stretching exercise from the specialist and good ta go. Turned out I have one leg shorter than the other! (I think that`s why I got more chance of scrapping the left knee than tha right ). Wifey reckons I got a Mouth problem... Ummm ... who am I gunna call?

I was thinking of that. Was wondering what would be the best way of going about raising the seat, probably have to take to good upholstery shop and add some foam to it. I will have to go into the files to find the peg lowering explanation. Sorry wasn't :dash2: :dash2:t thinking

I think it was pat :scratch_one-s_head: that made some fancy adjustable pegs,  yours wouldn't be the first fj with highway pegs,   :good2:

Here are a set of lower pegs on eBay Germany. I don't know if the seller will post to Canada.

Or you can piece a set together. Twisted Throttle has a similar type that I used.

Oh there are so many things I could say here but I shall remain noble and say nothing :sarcastic:

Yes twistedthrottle has the german vario adjustable footpegs. About 4-6 weeks wait to get them from germany. I got some chinese ones for the like $36!! From china in about a week. While I waited for the german ones to get here. The german ones are much better quality. With the pegs all the way down and forward it makes a huge difference. But if you are going to leave them on you will need to do some work to the shifter to get it to a better position. I'm only going to use them on long trips(500miles or more). And put the stock ones back on when I get to the destination. Which I did when I got to OKC.

Off ebay the seller was mcmotoparts. I think I just put "adjustable footpegs for yamaha" in search on ebay. They are not specific for fj but they work had to tach a spacer in place under them to make them level. The german ones from twistedthrotle are fj specific.

Big R,

If you are still using the stock seat, that's your problem. I have a Corbin seat on my 89 and it is firm enough that my knees don't give me problems. I'm 6'4" and 230lbs. The stock seat is too soft and traps me in one riding position.
