Title: Dainese jacket puncture hole :(
Post by: LillioftheValley on June 06, 2013, 01:38:12 PM
Hey everyone!!
I have a question... Last year I purchased a Dainese Leather jacket from cycle gear. RECENTLY, I put a hole in the shoulder due to an impact of significant force and speed ...

While I was at the rally someone mentioned that the leather jacket should not have ripped that way and I should call the manufacturers about it.

My QUESTION based on the picture available of the afore mentioned jacket should I even bother contacting Dainese to ask them to fix? I realize warranties don't cover crashes and I'm happy to just keep it as is because I DID earn that hole.

Also any thoughts on how to PATCH it?

I would appreciate Any thoughts.

The way I see it, you're out very little in making a phone call or sending an email, and the worst they can do is tell you "No". I don't know about Dainese's repair policy, but I know of a couple other gear companies that are happy to repair crash damage.

The company may offer repair services but the liability may be an issue. When Klavdy tangled with a West Coast Pine Cone his gear took damage. The next time I saw it it had some good looking repairs to it. It can be fixed for less than replacing it.

Klavdy, you listening???? A member needs your information...

Mark Klavs gear is Vanson Leathers if I remember correctly and they were the 1's he was wearing at this Yrs rally, Lilly just take it to Cycle gear and ask them worse that can happen is nope can't do it, or look for a person who repairs leathers for the racing scene, if we were in Brisbane could point you to the best person to repair it but I think a 17000km flight might be going to extremes, Look on the internet in your local area you will be very surprised how well it can be fixed.

PS just found this Lizzy's Leathers

Was that worn through from a slide, or a chunk actually ripped out, either way looks like it did its job,

I'm not really sure.. It could be either honestly. I hit hard and slid so it could be either.  :dash2:

At least your here to tell the tale mate, I've still got the friction burn scar from a slide on my arm through the leather two years later,  only scuffed the jacket

That looks like a job for that RONCO Leather Patch goop they used to advertise on television.

Dab some on, apply the grain match template, and heat with an iron. Magically, it looks like new!

...at least on T.V.

What? That _DOESN'T_ work in reality? But the COMMERCIAL said...

Join a 1% club and cover it with an "In memory of..." patch.

You need to wear that jacket with Pride! Maybe Dainese will hire you as a product spokeswoman?

Glad it wasn't much worse!

Steve
