Title: later year gas tanks?
Post by: Antonn3 on May 31, 2013, 09:18:27 AM
Hello, on the later year gas tanks, what is the small "nipple" or tube that extents out from the rear of the tank, located below the forward part of the seat ?
Its only visible when you remove the seat.
I'm replacing my FJ1100 tank to a later year.

Thank you
Tony

Tank vent, should have a rubber hose that goes back and down the center of the bike in front of the battery to just below the lower shock mount.

The tank vents through the gas cap, the hose is an overflow hose. if you overfill your gas tank it runs out the hose instead of spilling all over your gas tank.

Thanks for the clarification Travis.  Even more important why you need to put the hose on it!  :good:

On my tank there is a plastic fitting under the front portion between the two C shaped peices. What is this for?

Not having seen under a californian model fj tank, I'm guessing its for the emission canisters  :scratch_one-s_head:
