HI Everyone,
My sons 92 has the following symptoms:
1) Hard to shift to neutral when running
2) Hard to shift, period, especially 1-2
3) Clutch begins to engage from right near bar
4) have not noticed any slippage
Are these symptoms found when the hydraulic clutch system needs bleeding or is failing?
Back in the day, with a manual clutch linkage, the first thing to try would be some adjustment.
Thoughts?
Thanks,
Jeff
Yes.
Check for fluid leakage below the slave cylinder.
If the bike still has the chin fairing, remove it and look for fluid there, as you'll want to clean it off ASAP... it will damage the plastic.
Exactly how my clutch acted due to leaking. I was able to just open the top and fill it up, and all was good again. Make sure to install the diaphragm correctly, though, had to go back in after another week to fill up again because diaphragm wasn't in right. Also, definitely check the slave for a leak, and if leaking, remove the chin fairing if you still have it until you get it sorted out. Mine bit the dust, have it in storage until I can repair it.
It needed to be repainted anyways. Still, repainting is easier than plastic welding.
Thanks Fintip,
Replace the clutch slave; was leaking a small amount. Now shifts better than ever.
