I am waiting on parts to put my carbs back together and desided this weekend I wanted to start her new paint. I wasnt feeling the flat black look from the PO because I feel like there is no creativity or originality in that but some people love it but I strive to be different. This is just a temporary paint until I can have my painter paint it for real. Let me know what you guys think.

Good start. I would vote for the flat black.
I wanted to do the "street fighter" look on mine, but my body work is in very good shape. So I just kept mine original for now. :pardon:
I thought about doing something like this:

I like that bike but to be honest I have never been into the whole blacked out or flat black thing. Seems like a lazy way out because it doesnt take any original thought. I also think at this point its played out and overall doesnt look that great to me. I have always kind of strived to open the envelope to new things and new ideas. I am going for that kind of look as far as the tail end and whatnot though just have not figured out how to make it happen yet.
I really like the fighter fj, just needs some grey or blue ghost flames ,or a skull or two :good2:
Just gotta say, lotssokids, that is a fantastic look. I've never seen a custom FJ's shape look that good. I had thought there was no chance an FJ could ever look as good as the custom XJR's, but wow. Impressive.
Blurs the line between cafe and fighter...
This has always been my favorite custom xjr, and it might give you some inspiration about your color choice:

Is the rake angle stock on that FJ? Really puts into perspective rake angle. Doc's FJracer was actually modded to sharpen up the rake.
Here is another highly modified streat fighter.

good visibility in the orange, there's a reason safety vests are that colour.
Thanks guys, I know I will get some haters just like with my cars because I should have left something original or I didn't do something the way someone thinks they should be done. I plan on hopefully showing this bike in the future to build the love on the FJ just like I built up the Cougar over the Mustang. Hopefully when I get some time either later this week I will be able to finish the paint and you guys can see the finish product thats brewing in my mind. Like with my cars I like to be different and push the bounderies of traditional. That is actually pretty much exactly what I want to do is have a little cafe, little streetfighter and a little traditional FJ1100 as I am going to put the FJ1100 decals back on the bike.
Looking forward to seeing your finished product.
Put some new mirrors, grips and carb gaskets on it last night. Getting a new battery Friday and my decals are on the way so I can paint the tank and get my decals on. I havent figured out if I wanna chop my tail piece or try to find another subframe from another bike to fit on her and take that route. Anyone on here ever experemented with using different subframes on a FJ?
