I actually completed the coil mod yesterday & it amazes me how much better my bike starts & idles, I have been having a hard time with my bike since I bought it 3 seasons ago. Multimeter showed 10v @ idle & only 9v @crank. I honestly haven't multimetered the mod but I'm pretty sure that the 12g wire made happy. INSTANT difference.
Also threw in a Barnett clutch today out of a parts bike I purchased.
I had some issues with that.
I read the clutch files section thoroughly last year so I remembered that I could replace the inner (small) clutch disc with a full size clutch disc (which I had because I had 2 clutches to play with) anyway, I put the whole thing together (with full size inner clutch plate) but I couldn't get the clutch to disengage. I got pretty frustrated trying to figure it out as I knew I had reassembled everything EXACTLY as I had removed it with the exception of the larger inner clutch plate..... but that was the problem..... I never removed the dampening spring (#5) and the spring seat ring (#4) :dash2: :dash2: :dash2: :dash1:
So the clutch must've had too much pressure on it to release with those 2 items in there, anyhoo, finally figured that out, Ditched them, new fluid & bleed I was good to go.
I didn't even know how much of my Kookaloo I was missing, HOLY WOW IS THE BIKE FAST WITH A HAPPY CLUTCH
Next up is to swap in the rebuilt front forks & 17" front wheel off the parts bike, some new rubber & I am going to be one VERY happy FJ rider
Cool, A Kookaloo convert...... Crank it on and find the Kookaloo...
