I have this weird hole in the fender. Any idea what caused it and how to fix it? I got chunks of dirt stuck to the exhaust opposite where that is.

If that is that is the rear half of the fender, near the headers than it is mostly caused by heat. Mine have been altered by heat.... Might want to clean more often...
Yep the FJMonkey nailed it.....good monkey.
Heat from your header tubes deformed the fender's plastic to the point where your tire rubbed a hole in the plastic. This does not happen when you are riding, all the airflow keeps things cool.
This happens when you park the bike, so.....next time you park your heat soaked bike, turn your handle bars to the right or left. Get that plastic away from those header tubes.
I live in the desert, ask me how I know....on second thought, don't ask...it was a painful lesson to learn.
I didn't do it. Honest. :)
This is courtesy of the previous owner, same as the scuffs on the right scoop and the cracked plastic on the left side.
You'd think something this close to the headers would be a bit more heat resistant...
