Title: Another lower fairing question
Post by: tim95621 on May 15, 2013, 01:36:37 PM
Good Morning All.

My bike (86) is about to be painted, I'm just tying up the last few odds and ends. I need the lower fairing, and I found two sources.

One is the one that's always posted on Fleabay:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/yamaha-fj1200-belly-pan-/250824201356?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3a6649948c&vxp=mtr#ht_1889wt_932 (http://www.ebay.com/itm/yamaha-fj1200-belly-pan-/250824201356?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3a6649948c&vxp=mtr#ht_1889wt_932)

The other is Motorhead

I've searched to the best of my abilities, but I haven't found the exact answer I'm looking for.

From someone that's purchased one,

How is the fit?
How is the quality?
Is it an exact match to the OEM? Other than paint.

I bought a new fairing from jean in Spain, iow Motorhead.

I have hear only great stuff about him, and the fit is excellent.
The quality is top notch! It's made out of fiberglass, so it makes repairs much easier then with the OEM plastic. And yes, it is an exact match, it's made from a mold from OEM fairing. It fitted perfectly on my 86  :good2:

The only thing that is not included on his products is all the small mounting brackets inside of the fairing. (That is if you were to consider the top fairing at some point)This you have to manufacture your self.
Fiberglass is easy to work with, so making some brackets isn't that hard.
But since you are only looking for the belly pan, or lower fairing if you like, it should not be a problem with fitment.

The top fairing took about 6 - 8 weeks from ordering to delivery for my part. But seeing the end result, I think it's worth it. Don't know how long it is for the lower fairing, but send him an email and ask. He provides excellent customer support.

All his FJ products are made on order, so he does not have any i stock. You would need to prepay for the product you like before the are made. He's a honest guy so this should not be a problem.

Cheers
Ken

Fantastic!  That's what I needed to here.  Good info on the wait time too, I'd better order it right away. Thanks

Your welcome.
They do come finsh and ready for primer and paint too, no work need to get them ready.

I would recommend paying him through Western Union, since it wild transfer the payment faster then ordinary wire transfer. (shortens down the waiting time :-)

Cheers

I like that dual headlight '85 fairing... sharp. Maybe for Christmas.
