WHAT IS THE BEST SPROCKET SET UP FOR ALL AROUND PERFORMANCE ON AN 841100 (MEANING FRONT AND BACK TEETH COUNT)

It kinda depends on what kind of riding you do with it.

As said, depends on your riding style etc.

17/(40,41,42).  Factory stock is a good compromise.  :)

Feels like an over drive compared to the stock 17/40.
I no longer keep looking for "6th".

Considering the stock gearing on the '84 is 17/42, anything with a 18 tooth countersprocket with the back sprocket in the range of 41/40/39 is an improvement.

I put a 18 on the front and the rear had a 41, like it much better, not searching for a 6th gear and still has plenty of punch, but my son's 86 1100 gix-er pulls away in 3rd 4th and 5th on a roll on, guess I can't have both.

 18/38 is great for highway and long distance riding without any problem in stop and go traffic. Smooths out the power delivery.  Keeps RPM's down compared to stock on highway.
