Title: Pod blocker
Post by: CodyNKR on May 06, 2013, 10:24:11 PM
Ok, FJ Brothers, Dean Naramore, Carey, Henry Russell, Frank Moore, Troy Suiter and all the rest of ya'll.....we are having a wrench night in the hangar with Steve from FL....valves/ shims, that kind of stuff. Steve LAUGHED at my specialty item the "pod blocker". I told him that was a one of a kind item. Never to be bought in a store. :)

But the valves have been done. Jeff will be putting that back together tomorrow night.....while I work.

Yesterday evening was the mobile edition of the Central Florida "Shim Dig".

Finished adjusting the valves in my bikes, then ran up to Deland to do the same on Nancy and Jeff's bikes (`86 and a `89).

It seems that Nancy USED to have four individual air filters, a couple of which would not remain on the carburetors without "assistance from above".

Picture this as a tastefully carved, custom piece of 2 x 4 pine _WOOD_, zip-tied onto the frame behind the air filter pods.

The lumber serves also as the mount point for the sheet rock screw used to hold the plastic side panel on the bike.

Nancy does have a really nice daily rider with many of the coveted mods. It's just too bad that she doesn't get to ride her more... Not enough hills and curves in Sunny Florida!

Closest I could come was the Pod Blocker(TM) pre-install shot:

IIRC wasn't that a Calvin, Frank custom one off prototype in the midst of a carb tune at camp during a rally?
