Title: Todays observation
Post by: 1tinindian on April 20, 2013, 10:58:53 PM
My thoughts are for all you riders that live in fair weather parts of the country that enable you to ride year round.
I feel that you miss out on the sensation of riding again after a long winter down time.
It's like the first time ever, but every spring! LOL. :yahoo:

I rode for just a short time today, and while out, I hit speeds of a buck and a quarter and it felt SO good!
Nothing like wide open spaces to enjoy!
I'm so happy to have such a nice FJ to ride. :good2:

The shear power to weight ratio is a thing of beauty :good:, especially coming out of a period of winter driving where traction is limited and control not always on your side, in a vehicle the size of my truck. :negative:

I guess that's all I had on my mind...I just love riding, and I'm glad to be back in the saddle again! :dance2:

Glad you got to ride your FJ, I live in Las Vegas, NV and I can ride near year round, As I Do love to ride, I rather ride on my FJ or Harley than anything else I own, If I could tow a trailer with my bike to get toll to and from jobs, I would , just no possible, Hitting triple digit speeds is something I would do, when I was in my younger days, I would do over a hundred, but thinking of my family and loved ones, keep me from doing such  :wacko2: things

Glad you got out to "blew the cob webs out" Leon. Hoping to get out by the end of the month here, at least for a few short runs to start getting my motorcycle legs back.

Shawn, the best thing about Nevada is a lot of long straight roads without much traffic at times :). I have made, and hope to make many more trips up and down hwy 93 and hwy 50. Like you with age I have slowed down or at least taken a different view of life. Now my speeding is in calculated bursts it seems. In the old days with unlimited speed limits in most of Nevada I would run for very large blocks of time at over triple digits between here and Nellis AFB. Then I would slow down to 75 -80 and it seemed like a crawl.
As I have aged I find it more enjoyable to check out the view along the way. Its amazing whats out there when you are not concentrating 110% on the next 100 feet in front of you!  But the "spirit" is still there and when the opportunity arises for a little civil disobedience it's nice to pick it up "just because".   :greeting:

No snow here in the valley. Now just rain wind and cool weather, the nights are still close to freezing levels.

Leon,

Glad you were able to regain that wonderful RIDE time experience again. :-)  Enjoy it while you can.
The other benefit you get from having a 'lay up' period is time to do those mods and maintenance jobs that are hard to get a "roundtwo" when you can ride all year.
Still, having had both experiences, my choice is to be able to ride NOW, no matter what month it happens to be.  And with the good fortune to have more than one bike, I can still get most of those chores done.
Welcome back to the status of 'rider' :-)

Arnie
