Title: Any diecast models out there?
Post by: TMadlem84 on September 21, 2009, 12:28:08 PM
Has anyone ever come across a diecast (or plastic) model of an FJ?  I'd love to get one to put on my shelf... but havn't had any luck finding one...

I've got one of the Blackbird...   so I've got Ratchet_72 covered with just a dab of silver paint.    :yahoo:

I've been looking since about 2000 and empty so far.   There is an interesting idea at the yamaha website... they have paper craft motorcycles.  Vmax, R1 and a couple others.   If you are OCD and want to try a variation on the theme, you might be able to get pretty close.    OK, so I've thought about it a few times, but always found other projects to keep me busy.  maybe someday tho...

I was at Pasadena Yamaha this afternoon picking up my brake light switch.

They had a ~6 in. 2004-06 R1 on the sales desk. (Could tell by what looked like 4-pot radial-mount calipers.)

The guy sitting there didn't know where it came from.

It was rather low quality so I wasn't too interested in trying to pursue it, but it proved that such things do exist.

Closest I could come up with in a short time.

Yeah... I was able to find the FJR1300... guess there isn't enough demand for a nice FJ1200 model :(

i got as far as downloading one of the paper ones off the yamaha web site last year, but still have to cut out bits and put together! it was the r1 and
there are just loads of parts to it, but the pics of one's built up (by someone with little fingers i'll bet) look fantastic so may well get round to it in the
depths of winter!, no fj one though

.
Not a diecast model, but this guy apparently makes these (therefore no shortage of supply, no bidding wars, likely everybody that wants one can get one, I have no affiliation, etc.):
