Title: Major elecrtical loss
Post by: manomega007 on April 08, 2013, 03:11:30 AM
Whilst out on a blast yesterday my FJ1200ABS, 1995 model lost all power to the everything EXCEPT head and tail lights, fuel pump, ABS warning light. So it still ran but on reserve even though there was over half a tank of fuel.
Everything else you can think of lost power, indicators, brake lights, ABS, fuel gauge, rev counter etc etc etc.
Now I have only had the bike since December and it has only covered 4000 from new so not taken it apart much yet. I have a wiring diagram so will start to study that but hoped that someone had come across the same problem and fixed it. Seems could be a common power feed to those which is broken of a connector dislodged?

Fixed it! - rechecked fuses and was amazed to find that the indicator fuse had blown and took out all of those other things. New fuse, after finding wing rack indicator bulb had come loose and blown fuse, and all is well again.

I am glad it is fixed. But I don't understand how the turn signal circuit would take out everything else out.

I am in awe with this as well. I would still study those diagrams and see if The po did something wrink-a-dink.....
